This CLCT memorandum should not be seen as an instruction, but a best practice guideline for the cleaning of lined and coated Tank Truck, Container and Railcars.
This should be the 1st version with possibilities of updates for content improvement, especially when new findings become available.

EFTCO publish a necessary process for the internal cleaning of coated and lined tank equipment and point out special features in this specific area, to increase knowledge and awareness when handling this special equipment.
EFTCO indicate a need for improvement in awareness, which begins as early as the order transfer stage.

Order for cleaning:
The detailed order for cleaning incl. all necessary details need to be advised by client’s, to avoid any equipment damages and secure a safe cleaning process.
Cleaning processes
The cleaning process is depending on the product to be cleaned and the specific transport equipment. Specific equipment related instructions, as f.e. maximum water pressure to be used, needs to be provided by the equipment owner / user.
Inspection
Due to possible product diffusion in the coating/lining, any odours, that may be present, must be expected during final inspection.
Liability and exclusion of responsibilities
The tank cleaning stations liability as service provider's must be reduced. Hidden damage of the lining or coating cannot be the responsibility of the cleaning station.
Warranty claims for damage to the lining/coating caused during tank cleaning, due to missing information in the order placement, are excluded.
The cleaning documentation needs to fulfil the EFTCO rules for issuing the EFTCO Cleaning Documents (ECD) and must take into account the specific characteristics of this tank cleaning process.
This memorandum includes sample cleaning instructions and additional accepted instructions can be added to this memorandum.
